Сюжет: In 1899, during the so-called rubber revolution, Acre was the only region for latex extraction. To escape the drought that had hit the northeastern regions, Bahtyao and his family arrived in Acre hoping for a better future. Bahtyao's family consisted of his wife Angelina and their two children, daughter Delzuite and son Bento. Upon arriving at the Santa Rita rubber plantation owned by Colonel Firmino, Bahtyao realizes that the prosperity he had dreamed of was just an illusion. Like the other workers, Bahtyao and his family are at the mercy of the colonel, who monopolizes the production, controls expenses, and dictates prices. The workers are obliged to sell the extracted latex to the plantation owner. Bahtyao despises Colonel Firmino. With the help of Father Jose, he and other workers start fighting for their rights.
